A66 TRAGEDY: SEVEN LIVES LOST IN A MATTER OF SECONDS

Seven people died in a devastating crash on the A66 after a Volkswagen Passat traveled the wrong way along the highway and collided head-on with a police vehicle.

Among those killed were 18-year-old Makai Saddington and four other young men traveling in the Passat, along with PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough, two police officers inside the responding vehicle.

According to reports surrounding the investigation, police had been pursuing the Passat before the vehicle began traveling in the wrong direction.

Just around 10 seconds later, the Passat collided with the police vehicle.
