MIDDLESBROUGH, England — A seven-year-old girl and her 34-year-old aunt have been identified as the two people who died in a devastating house fire in Grangetown, as police investigate whether the blaze could be connected to wider organized crime activity following Saturday’s deadly A66 crash.

Valentina Foster, 7, and Natalie McDonald, 34, died after the fire broke out at a home on Birchington Avenue early Wednesday morning. Emergency services were called at approximately 5:23 a.m.

TWO MEN ARRESTED

Cleveland Police have arrested two men, aged 23 and 31, on suspicion of murder. Both remain in police custody while detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.

A 48-year-old woman remains in critical condition in hospital, while three other people suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The investigation is being treated as a suspected murder case, although authorities have not publicly established a motive.
