MIDDLESBROUGH HOUSE FIRE: TWO DEAD AS POLICE INVESTIGATE POSSIBLE A66 CONNECTION

MIDDLESBROUGH, England — A seven-year-old girl and her aunt have died after a devastating house fire in Middlesbrough, with police investigating whether the incident could be connected to wider criminal activity following Saturday’s deadly A66 crash.

Valentina Foster, 7, and Natalie McDonald, 34, were among those caught in the blaze at a home in Grangetown early Wednesday morning.

Emergency services were called at approximately 5:23 a.m. after reports of a serious house fire. Firefighters and police rushed to the scene as flames engulfed the property.

TWO PEOPLE ARRESTED

Cleveland Police have arrested two men, aged 23 and 31, on suspicion of murder.

A 48-year-old woman remains in critical condition, while three other people were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Detectives are continuing to establish how the fire began and what happened inside the property before emergency crews arrived.

POLICE EXAMINE POSSIBLE A66 LINK

The fire occurred less than a mile from the scene of Saturday’s fatal A66 collision, which claimed seven lives, including five young men and two police officers.
