Today, Xavier Taylor’s family shared an emotional update.

But it wasn’t about their 12-year-old son.

It was about another little boy.

The young teammate who accidentally struck Xavier in the neck with a baseball.

The same moment that changed both families’ lives forever.

Xavier was warming up before a game when the ball hit him in the neck. He collapsed, went into cardiac arrest, and has remained in a coma as prayers for his recovery continue to pour in from across the country.

Since then, the baseball community has rallied around him.

💙 Bridges have been lit blue.
⚾ Baseball bats have appeared on front porches.
💙 Families have placed blue lights outside their homes.
⚾ And Xavier’s teammates carried his No. 6 jersey onto the field as they played for their friend.

But behind all those prayers, another question quietly remained:

How is the little boy who threw the ball?

Today, Xavier’s family answered.

“With permission from his family, we wanted to let everyone know that he is doing well and he is fully supported.”

And then came the words that may mean more than anyone can imagine.

Xavier’s family says they have known the boy and his family for years.

They have prayed with him.

They have stood beside him.

And most importantly, they have told him something no child should ever have to hear—but desperately needs to know:

“You are not at fault.”

“There is no blame placed on him. He’s a great kid.”
