“INSEPARABLE” TEEN BEST FRIENDS WERE HEADING HOME — NOW 5 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AFTER DEADLY CALIFORNIA CRASH

VICTORVILLE, CALIF. — Two teenage best friends who had just begun their senior year together were on their way home when a devastating California crash changed everything.

Now, nearly two weeks after the Aug. 14 collision, five people have been arrested as investigators continue piecing together the events that led to the deaths of 17-year-old Maddalyn Dailey and 16-year-old Isabell DeLang.

The latest arrests have brought a major development to a case that has devastated two families and shocked the Victorville community.

TWO BEST FRIENDS WHO WERE “INSEPARABLE”

Maddalyn and Isabell had been close friends since elementary school and attended Sultana High School together.

Their families described them as inseparable.

On the night of the crash, Maddalyn was driving an Acura TL and giving Isabell a ride home. She was reportedly planning to return home afterward for dinner with her family.

That ordinary plan never happened.

According to authorities cited by PEOPLE, two other vehicles — a Dodge Charger and a Chevrolet Camaro — were allegedly traveling at extremely high speeds through a residential neighborhood when they collided with the Acura.

The impact was catastrophic.

Both teenagers died.

THE CRASH HAPPENED IN SECONDS

The collision occurred near Ridgecrest Road and Elmwood Drive in Victorville.

Investigators believe the Charger and Camaro were traveling at high speed when they struck the Acura carrying the two girls.

Reports indicate the force of the collision caused the Acura to split apart.

For Maddalyn’s father, Dustin Dailey, the moment he realized something had happened remains impossible to forget.

He previously told KTLA that when he heard the impact, he “automatically knew” something was wrong.

His daughter was supposed to be coming home.

Instead, the family was facing an unimaginable loss.

TWO DRIVERS NOW FACE THE MOST SERIOUS CHARGES

The California Highway Patrol identified two men investigators believe were behind the vehicles involved.

George Gary Sanchez, 49, of Riverside, was allegedly driving the Dodge Charger.

Terry Lamar Easter, 50, of Apple Valley, was allegedly driving the Chevrolet Camaro.

Authorities say Sanchez was arrested shortly after the crash.

Easter allegedly left the scene, triggering a multi-day search.

On Aug. 26, he surrendered to authorities.

Both men were subsequently booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on suspicion of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter with negligence, according to CHP.

The charges are allegations, and it remains up to prosecutors to prove them in court.

THREE MORE PEOPLE ARRESTED

The investigation did not stop with the two alleged drivers.

CHP also arrested three people on suspicion of acting as accessories:

• Ryan James Lewis, 45, of Victorville
• Lukevy Shawntell Yates, 49, of Apple Valley
• Madge Wells, 74, of Apple Valley

According to authorities, all three cooperated with investigators and were later released.

Their arrests add another layer to a case that investigators say involved more than the initial collision itself.

“SO MUCH LIFE AHEAD”

For the families, the legal developments cannot change the most painful fact: Maddalyn and Isabell will never get the chance to finish the senior year they had only just begun.

Loved ones described both girls as having “so much life ahead” of them.

Maddalyn’s family said she left behind an enormous hole in the lives of everyone who knew her.

Isabell was remembered as sweet, funny, intelligent and deeply loved, with big dreams for her future.

Their families have also established fundraising campaigns to help with funeral and memorial expenses.

A FATHER’S HEARTBREAK

Dustin Dailey has spoken openly about the unbearable loss of his daughter.

He told KTLA that he would do anything to have Maddalyn back.

The pain is especially difficult because the crash happened during what was supposed to be an ordinary evening.

Two friends were simply traveling home.

One was giving the other a ride.

Neither made it to their destination.

THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, including the movements of the vehicles before the crash and what happened afterward.

The arrests represent a significant development, but the case is far from over.

Sanchez and Easter remain accused of serious offenses, and the allegations must still be resolved through the court system.

For the families of Maddalyn and Isabell, however, no courtroom outcome can restore what was lost.

Two best friends who had grown up together were preparing to enter the next chapter of their lives.

Instead, their story ended on a California roadway.

Maddalyn was 17. Isabell was 16.

They were described as inseparable.
