A beloved baby donkey named HeeHaw was in his own pasture when police arrived in the middle of the night. Minutes later, he was gone.

HeeHaw, who had been bottle-raised by the family, reportedly approached the officers while braying.

Israel says the officers told the family that they believed they were in danger.

According to her account, an officer first attempted to use a Taser before the donkey was fatally shot.

Authorities have not publicly released a full account of the encounter, and the officer’s name has not been disclosed.

HE WASN’T A STRANGER TO PEOPLE

HeeHaw was not described by his family as a dangerous animal.

Israel said she had raised him from a bottle and that he was highly socialized.

He reportedly participated in petting-zoo activities and interacted regularly with people.
