BABY S WAS JUST A NEWBORN — THEN THE NUMBER OF WOUNDS FOUND ON HER TINY BODY WAS REVEALED IN COURT
She had only just entered the world.
But within hours, Baby S was dead — and a Sheffield courtroom has now heard the devastating details surrounding the newborn’s final moments.
Prosecutors told the court that the baby suffered 33 wounds from 15 separate stabbings.
The injuries were recorded on her face and torso, front and back, and a doctor confirmed that she was alive when the attack took place.
THEN INVESTIGATORS FOUND HER
When police attended a property in Wincobank, Sheffield, they did not find the newborn where she had been born.
Instead, Baby S was discovered wrapped in a towel inside a blue bag, on top of a washing machine in an outhouse.
A potential weapon has since been recovered and is being examined, while investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage.
The court has also heard allegations that the crime scene was cleaned, forming part of the perverting-the-course-of-justice charges faced by four adults.
FOUR ADULTS FACE MURDER CHARGES
Baby S’s mother, Andrea Skopova, 20, is among four adults charged with murder.
Also charged are Peter Horvath Jr, 19, Peter Horvath Sr, 38, and Nina Horvathova, 37.
All four are additionally charged with causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.
A 15-year-old girl has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice. Her identity is protected because of her age.
All five defendants have been remanded in custody.
THE CASE IS FAR FROM OVER
The four adults and the teenager are accused, not convicted.
Their trial is scheduled to begin on April 12, 2027, and is expected to last six to seven weeks.
For now, investigators are still working to establish exactly what happened inside the Sheffield property — and who was responsible for each part of the alleged crime.
But one fact has already left the courtroom stunned:
Baby S was only a newborn.
And prosecutors say she suffered 33 wounds in 15 separate attacks before her tiny body was discovered hidden inside an outhouse.
The full truth of what happened may now have to wait for a trial.
