FOUR PEOPLE ACCUSED IN BABY S’ DEATH NOW FACE ANOTHER SERIOUS CHARGE — AND IT CENTRES ON WHAT ALLEGEDLY HAPPENED AFTERWARD

The horrifying Sheffield case has taken another disturbing turn.

Four people accused of murdering newborn Baby S are now facing an additional allegation involving what prosecutors say happened after the baby’s death.

Andrea Skopova, 20, Peter Horvath Jnr, 19, Peter Horvath Snr, 38, and Nina Horvathova, 37, are all due to stand trial over the death of the newborn girl.

But the murder charges are not the only allegations before the court.

ANOTHER CHARGE — AND A DISTURBING ALLEGATION

The four adults are also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.

The latter charge relates to an allegation that the scene was cleaned after the baby’s death.

A 15-year-old girl, who cannot legally be named, has also been charged with perverting the course of justice.

These remain allegations and will have to be tested at trial.

THE BABY WAS FOUND IN AN OUTBUILDING

Baby S was found dead on August 30 at a property in the Wincobank area of Sheffield.

Earlier court proceedings heard that the newborn had suffered 33 injuries from 15 separate stabbings.

The infant was reportedly found on top of a washing machine inside an outhouse, after police were called over concerns for her safety.

The details have shocked the local community.

But prosecutors now face the task of proving not only what happened to the baby, but also what allegedly happened in the aftermath.

A COURTROOM FILLED WITH FAMILY

The four adults appeared at Sheffield Crown Court alongside the 15-year-old girl.

The hearing was described as highly emotional.

The defendants were surrounded by security staff and supported by Slovak interpreters, while members of their families watched from the public gallery.

Skopova and the teenage girl were reported to have sobbed during the hearing.

All five defendants were remanded in custody.

TRIAL SET FOR NEXT YEAR

Judge Sarah Wright has scheduled the trial to begin on April 12, 2027.

It is expected to last between six and seven weeks.

The next hearing is scheduled for October 2.

For now, none of the defendants has been convicted.

The prosecution must still prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.

But the case has now moved beyond the question of what happened to Baby S.

Investigators and prosecutors are also examining what allegedly happened afterward — and whether attempts were made to interfere with the investigation.

And that could become one of the most closely examined parts of the trial.
