BABY S WAS JUST A NEWBORN — NOW THE FULL EXTENT OF HER INJURIES HAS BEEN REVEALED IN COURT

She had only just entered the world.

But within days, Baby S was at the center of one of Sheffield’s most disturbing criminal investigations.

Prosecutors told the court that the newborn suffered 33 wounds from 15 separate stabbings, with injuries to her face and torso — front and back. 

And what investigators allegedly discovered afterward made the case even more disturbing.

HER BODY WAS FOUND ON A WASHING MACHINE

When police responded to concerns about the safety of an infant at a property in Holywell Heights, Wincobank, on August 30, Baby S was found dead inside an outbuilding.

The court heard that she had been wrapped in a towel and placed inside a blue bag, which was found on top of a washing machine.

A forensic post-mortem confirmed that her cause of death was stab wounds.

FOUR ADULTS FACE MURDER CHARGES

Baby S’s 20-year-old mother, Andrea Skopova, is among four adults charged with murder.

Also charged are her boyfriend, Peter Horvath Jr., 19, and his parents, Peter Horvath Sr., 38, and Nina Horvathova, 37.

The four adults also face charges of causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice by taking steps to conceal the killing of an infant. 

A 15-year-old girl has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice. She cannot legally be named.

All five defendants have been remanded in custody.

THE CASE IS NOW HEADING TOWARD TRIAL

At Sheffield Crown Court, all five appeared together as the case moved forward.

The defendants are due back in court on October 2, while a provisional trial date has been set for April 12, 2027, with the trial expected to last six to seven weeks.

Two other women, aged 26 and 37, who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder remain on bail.

Police have repeatedly warned the public not to speculate or share information online that could prejudice the proceedings.

Because despite the horrifying details heard in court, these remain allegations.

The defendants have not been convicted.

And the most important question is still unanswered:

What exactly happened to Baby S inside that Sheffield home — and why?

The full truth will ultimately have to be determined in court.
