New toxicology findings have revealed another disturbing detail in the Mechanicville family tragedy that left four young siblings dead.

According to a report citing sources familiar with the investigation, Harper Harmon, 13, Hudson Harmon, 11, and 10-year-old twins Gavin and Gracelynn Harmon all had diphenhydramine, the active ingredient in the allergy medication Benadryl, as well as kratom, in their systems.

The findings provide new information about what investigators believe happened inside the New York apartment on June 10.

But they also raise even more questions about the final hours of four children whose bodies were not discovered until nearly two weeks later.

THE TOXICOLOGY FINDINGS

Sources told NewsChannel 13 that both substances were detected in the blood of all four children.

Authorities have alleged that their mother, Sarah Myers, 44, and grandmother, Amy Steadman, 64, had planned to poison the children before both women later died by suicide.

According to investigators, Harper, Hudson and Gracelynn died following the alleged poisoning.

Gavin apparently survived the initial attempt, authorities said, before he was fatally stabbed.

Police previously said the 10-year-old had defensive wounds, adding another deeply disturbing element to the investigation.

THE CHILDREN WERE NOT FOUND FOR 13 DAYS

The tragedy reportedly unfolded on June 10, 2026.

But authorities did not discover the children’s bodies until June 23, when police were called to the apartment for a welfare check.

Myers and Steadman were also found dead inside Steadman’s apartment.

The delayed discovery has become one of the most heartbreaking aspects of the case, as investigators work to reconstruct exactly what happened during the nearly two weeks before anyone entered the home.

“IT’S NOT WORKING”

Investigators have previously said that messages and internet searches recovered during the investigation pointed to an alleged plan involving the children.

Police said one message indicated that the initial plan was not producing the expected result, prompting the alleged response:

“It’s not working, we need another option.”

Authorities also said searches found on Steadman’s phone reflected an alleged interest in the effects of various substances and injuries.

These details have been presented as part of the investigation into how the tragedy unfolded.

A CHILD’S HEARTBREAKING MESSAGE

Perhaps one of the most disturbing pieces of evidence described by investigators was an alleged message from Gracelynn.

As the 10-year-old reportedly became ill, she allegedly sent a message asking:

“Why would you do that? You both won’t let me puke.”

Investigators said Steadman later messaged Myers:

“Gracie is aware.”

The alleged exchange has become a chilling reminder that, according to investigators, one of the children may have realized something was seriously wrong before the tragedy was over.

THE CUSTODY BATTLE

Investigators believe the family tragedy was connected to a bitter custody dispute involving Myers and her former husband, Brady Harmon.

Harmon had been preparing to spend an extended period with his children in Utah after years of trying to rebuild his relationship with them.

According to police, a handwritten note recovered after the killings included allegations that the children had been harmed to “protect” them from their father.

Myers had also made allegations of abuse against Harmon.

But Harmon denied those claims.

Police said they found no evidence supporting the allegations, and Harmon was never charged.

A FATHER LEFT WITH QUESTIONS

In the aftermath, Harmon publicly condemned what happened to his children.

He has described the loss as unimaginable and questioned how anyone could have subjected the children to such suffering.

The father later laid the ashes of all four children to rest on a mountain in Utah during a private funeral.
