50-Year-Old Man Charged With Kidnapping After Allegedly Taking 1-Year-Old From Mother’s Shopping Cart

A 50-year-old man has been charged with kidnapping after police say he took a 1-year-old child from a mother’s shopping cart inside a Walmart in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

According to investigators, the mother was shopping with her two children when Marshall Dixon approached her and briefly spoke with her about the children. Police allege that Dixon then picked up her 1-year-old child, placed the toddler in his own shopping cart and began walking away.

The mother immediately confronted Dixon and managed to take her child back. She then rushed both children into a store bathroom, locked the door and called for help.

Walmart employees subsequently removed Dixon from the store and contacted 911. Police later located him sitting at a nearby bus stop.

When officers questioned Dixon about the alleged incident, police say he acknowledged what had happened, responding, “Yeah, I did that.”

Dixon has been charged with kidnapping in connection with the incident. The charge is an allegation, not a conviction, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the alleged attempted abduction.
