11-Year-Old Boy Dies After Go-Kart Overturns Into New York Pond
An 11-year-old boy from Greece, New York, has died after the go-kart he was driving overturned and plunged into a pond in western New York.
Parker Mitchell was driving the go-kart with his 8-year-old sister in Darien when the vehicle overturned at around 2:30 p.m. The go-kart landed on top of Parker, trapping him underwater.

Rescuers rushed to the scene and managed to pull Parker from the pond. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
His younger sister was able to escape from the overturned vehicle. She suffered only minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Parker’s death has left his family, friends and community mourning the loss of a young boy remembered for his friendly personality and love of an active childhood.

Those who knew him said Parker enjoyed sports and played both youth football and baseball. He also loved video games and spending time outdoors.
For his family, the tragedy has brought an unimaginable loss, as memories of Parker’s enthusiasm for sports, games and outdoor adventures now stand alongside the grief of losing him far too young.
