MISSING OHIO TEEN FOUND ALIVE AFTER 263 DAYS — SHE WAS DISCOVERED INSIDE A FORMER TEACHER’S HOME

Her family had spent months searching for answers. Then, more than eight months after she disappeared, authorities finally found the missing teenager alive inside a Springfield home.

For 263 days, her family did not know where she was.

The Ohio teenager had disappeared on Dec. 2, 2025, after reportedly leaving a transitional living facility in Columbus.

Months passed with no confirmed location.

Then came the discovery that stunned the community: the girl was found alive inside the Springfield, Ohio, home of Jobe Binkley, 48, a former school district teacher.

FOUND AFTER MORE THAN EIGHT MONTHS

According to a probable-cause affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, an officer working with the U.S. Marshals Service went to Binkley’s home on Aug. 21.

This time, authorities say Binkley acknowledged that the teenager was inside and called for her to come out.

She was located alive.

The discovery came after authorities had reportedly visited the same home twice before while searching for the missing girl.

According to police allegations, Binkley had refused to allow officers inside and denied that the teenager was there, despite knowing she had been reported missing.

HER FAMILY HAD BEEN SEARCHING FOR HER

The teenager’s disappearance had triggered a months-long search involving her family and law enforcement.

Neighbors also reportedly heard rumors that she might be staying at Binkley’s residence.

One neighbor, speaking to ABC 6, described the anguish of wondering whether the girl was alive and safe after so many months without answers.

The family has also raised serious allegations about Binkley and his relationship with the teenager.

The Sun reported that relatives accused him of grooming the girl and said they had previously provided authorities with photographs they believed showed her inside his home. Those allegations have not been established in court.

WHO IS JOBE BINKLEY?

Binkley was formerly employed by the Springfield City School District.

According to records cited by ABC 6, he was placed on administrative leave in November 2024 after concerns about his professional interactions with students. The district said those allegations were later determined to be unsubstantiated.

He was placed on administrative leave again in January 2025 and was fired the following month over a violation of district technology policy.

Importantly, authorities have not publicly established exactly how Binkley and the teenager knew each other, and PEOPLE reported that it remains unclear whether he had ever actually been her teacher.

A CHARGE — BUT MANY QUESTIONS REMAIN

Binkley was charged with one count of interference with custody, a first-degree misdemeanor.

He has pleaded not guilty and was released on bond.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Sept. 30.

The case has raised questions about what happened during the 263 days the teenager was missing — and why authorities were unable to locate her sooner.

For now, many of those questions remain unanswered.

But after more than eight months of uncertainty, one fact has brought enormous relief to those searching for her:

She was found alive.

And the investigation into how she ended up inside that home is continuing.
