The suspect was identified as Jorlan Lopes da Silva, 33, and authorities believe he may be connected to at least 16 killings in just three months.

During questioning, Silva allegedly told police he had killed around 80 people over the course of two decades.

If that claim is eventually confirmed, the scale of the alleged crimes would be extraordinary.

But investigators are still working to determine how much of his confession can be independently verified.

According to reports, police had been searching for Silva after identifying him as a suspect in a series of violent crimes.

Authorities had already connected him to multiple killings following his release from prison in May 2026.

During an earlier attempt to stop a vehicle associated with him, police detained another person.

That detail reportedly helped police identify the person beneath the disguise.

THEN CAME THE CLAIM OF 80 MURDERS

Police initially suspected Silva of involvement in a much smaller number of killings.

Investigators now say he allegedly confessed to approximately 80 murders.

He reportedly claimed that his first killing happened when he was only 13 years old.
