NOAH WOODS’ DAD PAYS HEARTBREAKING TRIBUTE TO ‘SWEETEST & MOST INNOCENT’ BOY, 3, AFTER BODY FOUND IN LAKE

The father of three-year-old Noah Woods has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his son after the toddler’s body was recovered from a pond during a huge search in Suffolk.

Noah disappeared on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after becoming separated from a relative while visiting the under-five playground on Merriam Close in Brantham.

The little boy’s disappearance triggered a massive search involving police, specialist teams, emergency services and around 1,300 members of the public.

NOAH’S LAST KNOWN MOVEMENTS

Suffolk Police said Noah was reported missing after he ran away from the area around the playground.

He was believed to have gone down an alleyway beside the play area towards a nearby new-build housing estate and Decoy Pond, a fishing lake in Brantham.

Noah was non-verbal and had partial hearing loss. He was also undergoing an assessment for autism, making the search particularly urgent because he would not necessarily respond if someone called his name.

Police and volunteers searched extensively around the village, surrounding woodland, fields and areas close to the pond.

Specialist resources were brought in as the operation continued, including search officers, dog units, helicopters and specialist dive teams.

MORE THAN 1,300 PEOPLE JOINED THE SEARCH

The scale of the response quickly grew beyond the emergency services.

Approximately 1,300 members of the public joined the search for Noah, while specialist teams from multiple organisations worked alongside local volunteers.

Those involved included HM Coastguard, Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service, the National Police Air Service, the Metropolitan Police Dive Team, Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue and ambulance personnel.

The Environment Agency also provided support.

Suffolk Police later praised the extraordinary community response, saying people had travelled from further afield to help search for the missing toddler.

BODY RECOVERED FROM DECOY POND

On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 16, officers from the Metropolitan Police Dive Team recovered the body of a child from Decoy Pond.

At that stage, formal identification had not yet been completed.

Suffolk Police said the discovery was being treated as “not suspicious but unexplained”, and Noah’s family was informed.

On September 17, police confirmed that the child had been formally identified as Noah Woods, aged three.

Police said Noah’s death is not being treated as suspicious, although officers still have enquiries to complete before submitting a file to the Coroner.

‘THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE PAIN’

Following the devastating confirmation, Noah’s father Rhys Woods shared an emotional tribute to his son.

He described Noah as the “sweetest and most innocent little boy”, saying he had “nothing but love to give.”

The family said they were “absolutely heartbroken” and would miss Noah enormously.

Rhys also thanked the thousands of people who had helped search for his son.

He said Noah had appeared to make an impact far beyond his small Suffolk community, with people across the country following the search and hoping he would be brought home safely.

‘WE WERE JUST HOPING HE WOULD BE HIDING SOMEWHERE’

In his tribute, Noah’s father described the family’s desperate hope throughout the search.

They had kept telling themselves that Noah might simply be hiding somewhere nearby and that someone would eventually find him safe.

Instead, the discovery at Decoy Pond brought the search to a devastating end.

Rhys thanked members of the community for their compassion, saying their support had brought the family comfort and strength during the darkest time of their lives.

‘NOAH, YOU WILL BE LOVED FOREVER’

The final words of Rhys’ tribute were directed straight to his little boy.

He said:

“Noah, you will be loved forever, you will never be forgotten and we miss you so so much.”

He also described it as a privilege to have been Noah’s parent and said the family had been able to pack so much love into the three years they had with him.

BRANTHAM MOURNS THE LITTLE BOY

Following the confirmation, tributes began appearing at the playground where Noah was last seen.

Members of the public left flowers, balloons, teddy bears and Bluey-themed toys, creating a growing memorial for the toddler.

A book of condolence was also made available in the village, while local facilities opened their doors to people affected by the tragedy.

The response showed how deeply Noah’s disappearance had affected the community.

Suffolk Police Superintendent Tom Pearse thanked everyone who had helped during the intense search and asked the public to give Noah’s family the time, space and privacy they need.

For more than 24 hours, hundreds of people searched Brantham with the same hope — that a missing three-year-old boy would be found safe.

Instead, the search ended with heartbreaking news.

Noah Woods was just three years old. His father’s tribute now stands as a final message of love to a little boy whose disappearance brought an entire community together — and whose memory will remain with those who searched for him.
