“OUR SWEETEST LITTLE BOY” — NOAH WOODS, 3, FOUND DEAD IN POND AFTER MASSIVE SEARCH

A three-year-old boy who sparked a huge community search after disappearing from a playground in Suffolk has tragically been found dead in a nearby pond.

Noah Woods, from Brantham, Suffolk, disappeared on the afternoon of September 15, 2026, after becoming separated from a relative while visiting a playground in Merriam Close.

The search continued through the village and surrounding areas, involving police officers, specialist search teams, firefighters, coastguard crews, search dogs, helicopters and around 1,300 members of the public.

BODY RECOVERED FROM DECOY POND

On September 16, specialist police divers recovered the body of a child from Decoy Pond in Brantham.

At the time, formal identification had not yet been completed, but Noah’s family had been informed of the discovery.

Suffolk Police later confirmed that the body was formally identified as Noah.

The force said the discovery was being treated as “not suspicious but unexplained.”

Police have continued inquiries and said a report will be prepared for the coroner.

A MASSIVE SEARCH BROUGHT THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER

Noah’s disappearance triggered one of the largest community searches in the area.

More than 1,300 members of the public joined police and emergency services in searching roads, paths, fields and waterways around Brantham.

Specialist officers and dog units were deployed, while the National Police Air Service and HM Coastguard also provided aerial and search support.

Search teams also reviewed CCTV and other available video footage and carried out aerial and thermal-imaging searches.

The scale of the response left volunteers deeply emotional when police confirmed that a child’s body had been recovered.

“THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE PAIN”

Following the discovery, Noah’s father, Rhys Woods, paid tribute to his son.

He described Noah as “the sweetest and most innocent little boy”, saying the family was devastated by the loss.

“There are no words to describe the pain of this loss,” Rhys wrote in a message shared with the local community.

Noah was described by police as non-verbal and having partial hearing loss. He had also been undergoing an assessment for autism.

POLICE SAY DEATH IS NOT BEING TREATED AS SUSPICIOUS

Suffolk Police have said there is currently no indication that Noah’s death was suspicious.

However, the investigation has not simply been closed.

Officers said there are still inquiries to complete before information is submitted to the coroner, who will consider the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

The circumstances of how Noah entered the pond have not been publicly established.

A COMMUNITY REMEMBERS NOAH

News of Noah’s death prompted an outpouring of support well beyond Brantham.

At an Everton match against Ipswich Town, players wore black armbands and supporters applauded in Noah’s memory. A photograph of the little boy was also shown on the stadium’s big screen.

Ipswich Town players later laid flowers at the playground where Noah was last seen, while a fundraising campaign set up to support his family received more than £100,000 in donations.

For the people who searched for him, Noah was no longer simply the little boy whose disappearance had brought an entire community together.

He was a child whose family wanted desperately to bring him home.

And now, his loved ones are left mourning the loss of their “sweetest” little boy.
