Nadia Mucha was discovered seriously injured near a bus stop in Wakefield before dying in hospital four days later. Now, police believe she was the victim of a collision in which the driver failed to stop.
A teenage girl’s life has ended in tragedy after she was found seriously injured on a road in West Yorkshire.
Nadia Mucha, 16, was found lying on Rooks Nest Road in Wakefield at around 8:33 p.m. on September 29.
She had suffered serious head and chest injuries and was rushed to hospital.
Four days later, on October 3, Nadia sadly died.
Her death has now become the focus of a major police investigation.
A DESPERATE SEARCH FOR ANSWERS
When emergency services arrived at Rooks Nest Road, Nadia was found close to a bus stop.
At the time, police did not know exactly how the teenager had suffered her injuries.
Investigators launched enquiries to piece together what had happened during the moments before she was discovered.
As the investigation developed, detectives came to believe that Nadia had been involved in a road traffic collision in which the vehicle failed to stop.
That discovery has led officers to appeal urgently for witnesses and anyone who may have information about the incident.
MAN, 25, ARRESTED
On October 5, a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed on October 6 that he had since been bailed pending further enquiries.
The investigation remains ongoing, with officers from the force’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team continuing to examine what happened.
Police have not announced any criminal charge against the man at this stage.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Elly Buchanan said officers were continuing to support Nadia’s family through what she described as a “horrific time.”
She urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist investigators to come forward.
For Nadia’s loved ones, the investigation is now about finding out exactly what happened to a 16-year-old girl whose life ended far too soon.
