“HE CALLED OUT HIS SISTER’S NAME” — UNCLE ACCUSED OF THROWING 8-YEAR-OLD BOY FROM SIXTH-FLOOR WINDOW AFTER ROW OVER CRISPS
A child’s death in Istanbul has taken a disturbing turn after his nine-year-old sister reportedly told prosecutors what she witnessed. But the accused man denies wrongdoing, and key questions remain unanswered.
An eight-year-old boy died after falling from a sixth-floor window in Istanbul, Turkey, in a case that has taken a new turn following a young girl’s account of the final moments before the tragedy.
Oğuzhan Moğol died on August 20, 2024. His death was initially treated as an accident, but allegations made by his nine-year-old sister later prompted renewed scrutiny of what happened inside the family home.
According to reports published on October 13, 2026, prosecutors are pursuing a case against the boy’s uncle, Mustafa Uğur S., who is accused of intentionally throwing the child from the window. He denies the allegation.
In her reported statement to prosecutors, Oğuzhan’s sister described an argument after her younger brother asked for crisps.
She alleged that their uncle became angry and asked the boy whether he should throw him. According to her account, Oğuzhan was crying when the exchange took place.
The girl said she screamed at her uncle, asking what he was doing, before her brother called out her name as he fell from the window.
She also alleged that the uncle initially told the family the boy was sleeping when they asked where he was.
These details come from the sister’s account as reported by the media. They have not been established as proven facts in court.
THE UNCLE DENIES THE ACCUSATION
Mustafa Uğur S. has rejected the allegation that he deliberately threw his nephew from the window.
According to his statement to prosecutors, he looked up from his phone and saw Oğuzhan falling backwards. He claimed he tried to grab the boy but could not reach him.
He also alleged that the girl’s account had been influenced by her father.
The boy’s mother has disputed the accusations against her brother, reportedly saying that he had acted as a father figure to her children. She also questioned the circumstances in which the allegations emerged amid a family custody dispute.
WHAT DID THE INVESTIGATION FIND?
A forensic report reportedly concluded that the position of Oğuzhan’s body and his injuries were consistent with a fall from a height. However, it could not medically establish whether he fell accidentally or was pushed.
Prosecutors are relying on several forms of evidence, including the sister’s testimony, witness statements, CCTV footage and the autopsy.
They are seeking an aggravated life sentence for the alleged intentional murder of a child. The indictment has been sent to the Bakırköy High Criminal Court for consideration.
A FAMILY STILL SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH
Oğuzhan’s father, Ersin Moğol, reportedly said the family had initially been told the child fell from a sofa. He later learned of his daughter’s allegations after gaining custody of her.
The father also alleged that his daughter had been threatened over what she said about her brother’s death. Those claims are separate allegations and should not be treated as established facts without further confirmation.
For Oğuzhan’s loved ones, the case has become a painful search for answers about how a young child lost his life.
The central question remains unresolved: what exactly happened at the window that day? The court proceedings will need to assess the evidence before responsibility can be determined.
