“I NEED HELP DYING” — PENNSYLVANIA MOTHER ACCUSED AFTER HUSBAND AND 3-YEAR-OLD SON FOUND DEAD AT FAMILY RESORT
Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, allegedly called 911 from Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains. Investigators say her husband and young son were found dead inside their guest room.
A family holiday at a popular Pennsylvania resort ended in tragedy after a 27-year-old mother was accused of killing her husband and their three-year-old son.
Metallica Rose Harrison, of Towanda, Pennsylvania, has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide in connection with the deaths of her husband, Charles Harrison, and their young child at Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains.
According to a probable-cause affidavit cited by PEOPLE, Harrison called 911 on the afternoon of Monday, October 12, 2026, telling the dispatcher that she did not want to be there anymore and needed “help dying.”
During the call, she allegedly told the dispatcher that her husband and son were already gone and asked for police assistance.
The case has shocked the local community and raised painful questions about what happened inside the family’s resort room.
POLICE RESPOND TO A DISTRESSING 911 CALL
Pocono Township police were dispatched to the resort at approximately 3:15 p.m. on October 12 after receiving the emergency call.
According to the affidavit, Harrison told the dispatcher that she had knives and was struggling to harm herself. She allegedly said that her husband and son were already dead inside the room.
When officers arrived, they found Charles and the three-year-old boy lying on separate mattresses on the floor. Investigators reported that both had apparent stab wounds.
Harrison was also found with cuts to her wrist and neck. She was taken into custody at the scene and transported to hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have not publicly identified the couple’s son by name.
The allegations outlined in court documents describe a devastating scene. However, the criminal charges against Harrison remain allegations, and the case must proceed through the justice system.
WHAT HARRISON ALLEGEDLY TOLD FIRST RESPONDERS
The affidavit describes further statements Harrison allegedly made after officers arrived.
According to investigators, she told police that she wanted to be with her husband and son. During the ambulance journey to hospital, she allegedly expressed regret and spoke about the family life she had hoped to have.
“Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife,” she allegedly said, according to the affidavit.
She reportedly added that events were not supposed to end that way and that she had imagined having a happy family since childhood.
At the hospital, Harrison allegedly told police she was suicidal but declined to answer further questions.
These statements have become a significant part of the publicly reported account of the incident. They do not, on their own, establish a motive or determine what happened before the emergency call.
Authorities have not announced a confirmed motive for the alleged killings.
THE FAMILY HAD BEEN STAYING AT GREAT WOLF LODGE FOR WEEKS
Investigators said the family checked into Great Wolf Lodge on September 21 and later extended their reservation, with checkout scheduled for October 13.
The resort, located in Scotrun in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, is known for its indoor water park and family activities.
According to surveillance footage described in the affidavit, the family entered their room shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 11.
Later that evening, Harrison was seen leaving the room briefly before returning. She and Charles were subsequently seen walking to the resort’s arcade at around 10:45 p.m. They returned approximately 40 minutes later.
Investigators said the footage reviewed for the affidavit showed no further activity involving the family after that point.
Police also reported recovering two knives that resort staff said were not the type normally kept at the property. Investigators collected additional items from the room as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not publicly explained when the fatal injuries occurred.
HUSBAND AND SON REMEMBERED BY GRIEVING RELATIVES
As the criminal investigation continues, the deaths have left relatives facing the loss of both a husband and a young child.
A verified GoFundMe campaign was established by loved ones to help cover funeral expenses.
The fundraiser described Charles, affectionately known as Chaz, as a devoted father and husband whose life centred on his wife and child.
The family’s relatives expressed the difficulty of coping with the sudden loss of two loved ones while making arrangements for their funerals.
The fundraiser’s message offered a glimpse of the personal grief behind the criminal case, reminding readers that the tragedy has affected a wider circle of family members and loved ones.
GREAT WOLF LODGE RESPONDS
A spokesperson for Great Wolf Lodge said the resort was deeply saddened by the incident and extended condolences to the family and those affected.
The company described the incident as an isolated family tragedy and said it was cooperating fully with local law enforcement.
Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso also described the case as a “violent domestic tragedy” during a press conference. Authorities said there was no ongoing threat to the wider public.
Investigators have not publicly established a motive, and officials have not announced any broader danger connected to the incident.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Harrison is being held without bail at the Monroe County Correctional Facility, according to court records cited by PEOPLE.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 21, 2026. At the time of the report, court records did not list an attorney who could speak publicly on her behalf.
The case remains under investigation. Prosecutors will need to present evidence through the legal process, and Harrison is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
For now, the most difficult questions remain unanswered: what led to the events inside the resort room, and what happened before the emergency call that brought police to the scene?
As relatives prepare to say goodbye to Charles and their young son, the investigation continues to seek answers in a case that has devastated a family and shaken a community.
