HORROR CRASH IN EGYPT: AT LEAST 13 DEAD AND DOZENS INJURED AFTER TOURIST BUS SMASHES INTO TRUCK

A devastating road accident in Egypt has claimed at least 13 lives and left dozens more injured after a passenger bus collided with a heavy truck, with the force of the impact reportedly tearing the bus apart.

The tragedy unfolded on Tuesday, October 20, along the Cairo–Assiut Western Desert Road, a major highway connecting Egypt’s capital with areas to the south.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene as the full scale of the destruction became clear. Images from the crash site showed severely mangled metal, wreckage scattered across the road and passenger seats thrown from the damaged vehicle.

 TWENTY-EIGHT AMBULANCES SENT TO THE SCENE

Egyptian health authorities deployed 28 ambulances to help rescue the victims and transport injured passengers to nearby medical facilities.

Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar directed hospitals in the surrounding area to raise their emergency preparedness levels and ensure that the injured received the medical attention they needed.

The Health Ministry initially reported 12 deaths and 30 injuries, while subsequent media reports put the death toll at 13. Other reports have given differing injury figures as emergency assessments continued.

Five of those reported killed had not yet been identified in the initial coverage, according to local media cited by The Irish Sun.

Authorities stressed that the casualty figures were preliminary and could change as investigations and medical assessments continued.

 QUESTIONS REMAIN OVER WHAT CAUSED THE COLLISION

The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation.

Preliminary reports have raised the possibility that the bus driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Other accounts cited by media outlets suggested the bus may have been speeding while attempting to overtake the truck.

There have also been conflicting reports about whether the truck was moving or stationary at the time of the collision. None of these explanations should be treated as a confirmed cause while the investigation remains ongoing.
