THIS is the disturbing moment a dog owner was seen repeatedly striking and dragging his frightened Rottweiler across the floor.

Malik Zoubiri has been banned from keeping animals for five years after footage showed him mistreating his pet dog, Dyson.

The 31-year-old was filmed repeatedly striking the Rottweiler as it cowered and tried to move away.

The heartbreaking clip shows Zoubiri holding the dog down and using a chain lead around his neck to pull him across the floor before taking the frightened pup out of view.

Police and RSPCA officers attended his property on April 11 and removed Dyson from the home.

A veterinarian later raised serious concerns about the physical and emotional suffering the dog had experienced.

Zoubiri reportedly kicked and struck Dyson, repeatedly lifted him by the collar, threw 20kg weights toward him, forced him underwater and hit his head against furniture.

He also failed to provide enough food, leaving Dyson without meals for days, and did not allow him outside when needed.

Sadly, the treatment Dyson experienced led to significant behavioural challenges.

The dog was later humanely euthanized after specialists determined he was no longer suitable for rehoming.

On May 12, Zoubiri appeared at Barkingside Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to two animal welfare offences.

He received a five-year ban from keeping animals, along with a 12-month community order, 15 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days, £500 in costs, a £180 fine and a £114 victim surcharge.

Inspector Shahnaz Ahmad said: “Animals feel pain and distress, just like we do, and always deserve to be treated with kindness and compassion.

“This result should serve as a reminder that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
