Around 6 p.m. Sunday, emergency dispatchers received a call reporting a dangerous situation inside the White Star Circle home.

According to reports, the caller described gunfire and an unconscious child.

Officers reported hearing additional gunfire coming from the rear of the home.

EIGHT FAMILY MEMBERS WERE KILLED

Authorities ultimately confirmed that eight people died, including four children.

Family members identified the victims as Megan Ghekiere, her children Owen Ireland, 13, and Chloe Ireland, 7, Megan’s stepchildren Landon Ghekiere, 15, and Charlotte Ghekiere, 12, along with Megan’s parents, Dana and Barb Smith, and her grandmother, Evelyn Smith.

The victims represented four generations of the same family, ranging from a 7-year-old child to a great-grandmother in her 90s.

For relatives now mourning the loss of an entire branch of their family, the scale of the tragedy is almost impossible to comprehend.

CHARLOTTE’S FINAL ACT HAS TOUCHED THE COMMUNITY
