Eight-year-old Jennifer Schuett was abducted from her bedroom while her mother slept nearby. The young girl was subjected to a horrific sexual assault, brutally attacked, and left for dead in a remote field. Nearly twelve hours after her disappearance, against all odds, she was found alive, suffering from devastating, life-threatening injuries.

Medical professionals feared Jennifer might never be able to speak again due to the extent of her trauma. Unable to talk from her hospital bed, she refused to let her story go unheard and began writing detailed notes to investigators. She described her assailant as a white male wearing glasses and green tattoos, meticulously recalling details about his clothing, his vehicle, his preferred cigarettes, and his beer cans, even noting that he had offered her candy prior to the attack. Despite these critical clues, police were unable to identify the suspect, and the investigation eventually went cold.

Jennifer slowly regained her voice through intensive therapy, spending the next nineteen years relentlessly keeping her case alive. Her patience was rewarded in 2009 when investigators utilized advances in DNA evidence to identify Dennis Earl Bradford, who was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted capital murder.
