Pennsylvania Police Corporal Charged in Shooting Death of Unarmed College Student

A Pennsylvania police corporal has been charged with voluntary manslaughter after prosecutors said he fatally shot an unarmed 22-year-old college student who had mistakenly entered the wrong home.

The victim, Glenwood “Bubba” Pysher IV, 22, was killed around 12:30 a.m. on August 23, 2026, in Upper Pottsgrove Township, Pennsylvania.

According to Pysher’s family, he had been drinking with a friend earlier that night before mistakenly going to a residence he believed belonged to his friend. His family said he was waiting for his friend to arrive and pick him up when police responded to the home following a 911 call reporting a possible break-in.

Police Corporal Sean Farrell, 58, arrived at the residence and opened fire, killing Pysher.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting became the focus of a criminal investigation. According to Montgomery County prosecutors, body-camera footage shows Pysher was unarmed and had his hands raised when Farrell shot him.

On September 1, 2026, prosecutors charged Farrell with voluntary manslaughter, arguing that his use of deadly force was not legally justified.

The case has raised questions about the circumstances leading up to the shooting and whether the officer reasonably believed deadly force was necessary at the time.

Farrell now faces criminal proceedings as prosecutors continue to review the evidence surrounding Pysher’s death. The allegations against him will be addressed through the court process, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
