Duane “Keffe D” Davis Convicted of First-Degree Murder in Tupac Shakur Case

More than 30 years after Tupac Shakur was fatally shot, a Las Vegas jury has found Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty of first-degree murder in connection with the rapper’s death.

Davis, 63, was convicted on August 31, 2026, after the jury deliberated for less than three hours.

Prosecutors argued that Davis played a central role in orchestrating the attack that ultimately killed Tupac. They said he provided the gun and helped organize the group that set out to find Tupac and Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight following an earlier confrontation.

However, Davis was not accused of being the person who pulled the trigger.

Prosecutors identified his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, as the alleged gunman. Anderson died in 1998 and was never prosecuted in connection with Tupac’s killing.

Tupac was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, and died six days later at the age of 25. The case remained one of the most closely watched unsolved celebrity murders for decades.

Davis’s conviction now represents a major development in a case that has captivated fans and investigators for years.

He faces the possibility of life in prison following the conviction. Davis has maintained his position in the case and has said that he intends to appeal the verdict.

For decades, questions surrounding who planned the attack, who fired the fatal shots and why Tupac was targeted remained unanswered in court.

Now, with Davis convicted, the long-running legal saga surrounding one of hip-hop’s most famous murders has entered a new chapter.

The conviction concerns Davis’s alleged role in orchestrating the killing; he was not identified by prosecutors as the person who fired the gun.
