SOMERSET COUPLE WELCOMES IDENTICAL TRIPLETS AFTER INFERTILITY STRUGGLE

After years of coping with infertility, Shannon Page, 29, and her husband Ace, 28, began NHS fertility treatments hoping to start a family. Early scans indicated they were expecting twins, bringing immense joy to the Wincanton couple. However, a subsequent ultrasound revealed a rare surprise: they were actually expecting identical triplet boys.

The pregnancy soon became high-risk. Doctors found the babies shared a single placenta, with one infant receiving significantly more nutrients than his brothers. Shannon also developed a shortened cervix, increasing the threat of premature labor. Though medical specialists advised them to consider selective reduction, the couple firmly chose to carry all three babies. To remain near specialized medical care, they temporarily moved to Bristol, spending over £4,000 on accommodation throughout the pregnancy.

Shannon successfully reached 29 weeks before giving birth on October 6 to Cruz, Enzo, and Aljo. The boys weighed between 2lb 7oz and 2lb 13oz. The triplets were immediately transferred to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for specialized neonatal care. Despite Cruz battling several early infections, all three brothers are gaining strength and making encouraging progress while currently being fed through tubes.

After years of heartbreak and uncertainty, Shannon and Ace are now waiting for the day their healthy sons can finally come home. “We went from having no children to three all at once,” Ace said.
