13-YEAR-OLD BOY AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL AFTER SUSPECTED STABBING ON EASTBOURNE SEAFRONT

A 13-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after suffering an injury consistent with a stabbing during a serious assault on the Eastbourne seafront, police said.

Emergency services were called to Grand Parade, near the junctions with Elms Avenue and Cavendish Place, at around 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, following reports of an assault.

Sussex Police said the boy had sustained an injury consistent with having been stabbed and was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment. His current condition has not been publicly disclosed.

GROUP OF YOUNG PEOPLE SEEN LEAVING THE SCENE

Officers are now working to establish exactly what happened and identify those involved.

According to police, a group of young people were seen leaving the area shortly after the incident. Officers are continuing efforts to locate them as part of the investigation.

Police have not publicly identified any suspects, and no arrests were announced in the initial appeal.

An increased police presence will remain around the seafront while officers carry out their enquiries and provide reassurance to members of the public.

POLICE APPEAL FOR FOOTAGE

Detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or may have captured footage around the time of the assault to come forward.

Investigators are particularly interested in CCTV recordings, mobile phone footage and dashcam video that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those who were present.
