BRIDE-TO-BE, 21, AND GROOM, 25, KILLED IN HORRIFIC CRASH JUST HOURS BEFORE THEIR WEDDING

A young couple who were just hours away from saying “I do” have died in a devastating road crash in Guatemala, leaving their families to bury them in the wedding clothes they had planned to wear.

Daniel Grande, 25, and his fiancée, Angelica Garcia, 21, were killed in a six-vehicle collision in the Escuintla area on Saturday, September 19 — just one day before their wedding.

The couple had been together for three years and became engaged last year. They were due to marry at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Shaddai Christian Ministry in Masagua.

Instead, their families gathered to say goodbye.

THEY WERE MAKING FINAL WEDDING PREPARATIONS

Daniel and Angelica had been making final preparations for their long-awaited wedding when tragedy struck.

According to reports, the couple had travelled toward Masagua to purchase some final items for the ceremony.

On their journey back, a collision involving multiple vehicles unfolded.

Firefighters said the crash involved three motorcycles, two light vehicles and a heavy fuel tanker.

Daniel died at the scene.

Angelica was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, but she later died.

A third person was also killed in the crash, while three others were taken to Escuintla National Hospital in critical condition.

JUST HOURS BEFORE THE CRASH, DANIEL WAS TALKING ABOUT THEIR WEDDING

The timing of the tragedy has made the loss even more painful for the couple’s loved ones.

Only hours before the fatal crash, Daniel had shared a social media post about newlyweds leaving a church.

He wrote a message expressing his excitement about the couple’s own wedding the following day.

Angelica responded with a hopeful message about finally becoming husband and wife.

Their wedding was supposed to take place at 3 p.m. Sunday.

It never happened.

Daniel’s mother, Luz Amanda Bran Orantes, said her son had been counting down the days until he could marry Angelica.

“He was going to marry the girl, and they never made it,” she said, according to reports.

THEIR FAMILIES TURNED THE FUNERAL INTO A FINAL WEDDING

Instead of preparing a wedding celebration, their families prepared a funeral.

Loved ones decided to recreate elements of the wedding ceremony so Daniel and Angelica could be laid to rest together in the clothes they had chosen for their special day.

Angelica was dressed in the white wedding gown she had planned to wear.

Daniel was dressed in the beige suit he had selected for his wedding.

Their coffins were carried beneath an arch decorated with white flowers, while two bridesmaids dressed in pink carried their wedding rings and placed them on the coffins.

The couple were then buried at a cemetery in Masagua, close to the church where they should have exchanged their vows.

“SO MANY DREAMS THAT REMAIN ONLY WORDS”

Heartbroken relatives have shared emotional tributes following the deaths.

Daniel’s cousin Maria Jose Roque wrote that sometimes people wish they could see what was about to happen and prevent tragedy, but that life does not offer such a warning.

She described the pain of losing her cousin and his fiancée when so many dreams remained unfinished.

Another tribute described Daniel as a well-mannered young man with many dreams and goals still ahead of him.

For his mother, the tragedy was made even more painful by how close the family had been to celebrating.

She had been preparing for her son’s wedding and had been calling him about decorating the church.

Then he stopped answering.

A WEDDING THAT NEVER HAPPENED

Daniel worked as a mechanic, while Angelica worked for the Masagua municipal government, according to reports.

They had spent three years building their relationship and had been looking forward to beginning married life together.

Instead, their wedding day became a day of mourning.

Their loved ones still carried out some of the traditions they had planned — the flowers, the rings, the wedding clothes and the gathering of family and friends — but under circumstances nobody could have imagined.

The fatal crash remains under investigation.

For the families of Daniel and Angelica, however, the investigation cannot change the heartbreaking reality.

Two young people who had been counting down the final hours before their wedding were gone before they could say the vows they had spent months preparing for.

Their final journey was marked by the wedding they had dreamed of — a wedding that, tragically, never got the chance to begin.
