“HE WAS THE SWEETEST LITTLE BOY” — NOAH WOODS’ FAMILY SPEAKS AFTER TRAGIC DISCOVERY

“HE WAS THE SWEETEST LITTLE BOY” — NOAH WOODS’ FAMILY SPEAKS AFTER TRAGIC DISCOVERY
For days, a small Suffolk village was united by one desperate hope:
Find little Noah Woods.
The three-year-old disappeared after visiting a playground in Brantham on September 15, sparking a huge search involving police, specialist teams and around 1,300 members of the public.
The search ended the following day when police divers recovered Noah from nearby Decoy Pond.
Now, his family has shared a heartbreaking tribute — asking people not to remember Noah only for the tragedy, but for the happy, cheeky and loving little boy he was.
NOAH DISAPPEARED FROM A PLAYGROUND
Noah had been visiting the Merriam Close play area in Brantham with a relative as part of what police described as a normal routine.
CCTV showed him playing at the playground between approximately 2:13 p.m. and 2:37 p.m. on September 15.
He was later seen leaving the play area.
An inquest heard that Noah went through a gap in the fence, entered a memorial garden and then left through an open gate.
A relative followed closely behind, but after Noah had travelled around 200 metres, he disappeared from sight.
Police were then called and a major search operation began.
A VILLAGE UNITED TO FIND HIM
What followed was an enormous community effort.
Police officers, specialist search teams, dog units, helicopters and members of the public searched Brantham and the surrounding area.
Around 1,300 people joined the operation.
Residents searched roads, paths, fields and areas around the village, hoping to find even the smallest clue that could lead them to Noah.
But the hours passed without the news everyone was praying for.
THE HEARTBREAKING DISCOVERY
On September 16, specialist divers from the Metropolitan Police entered Decoy Pond.
A child’s body was eventually recovered from the water.
The family was informed before police publicly confirmed the discovery.
Noah’s identity was subsequently formally confirmed.
Police said at the time that his death was not being treated as suspicious.
An inquest later heard that Noah was found around five metres from the bank, among submerged tree roots.
His medical cause of death remained subject to further investigation at that stage.
“THE SWEETEST AND MOST INNOCENT LITTLE BOY”
Noah’s father, Rhys Woods, paid tribute to his son after the devastating discovery.
He described Noah as the “sweetest and most innocent little boy”, saying he had nothing but love to give.
His family later issued a fuller tribute through Suffolk Police.
They described Noah as a happy, cheeky and playful child who loved laughing and giggling.
He was at the centre of a loving family that included his mother, father and baby brother.
HE LOVED HIS LITTLE BROTHER
One of the most touching parts of the family’s tribute was the description of Noah’s relationship with his baby brother.
His family said Noah absolutely adored him.
He loved spending time with him, entertaining him and making him laugh.
He wanted to be close to his little brother and followed him around whenever he could.
For the family, that bond is now one of the precious memories they will carry forever.
HIS VOICE WAS SOMETHING SPECIAL
Noah had been undergoing an assessment for autism and had not received a formal diagnosis.
His family said he had mild hearing loss and was speech delayed.
But he had been making progress.
He was learning new words and had only recently begun finding and using his voice more.
His family said one of the things they would miss most was the special sound of his voice — something they described as unique and wonderful.
“HOLD YOUR CHILDREN A LITTLE TIGHTER”
Noah’s mother, Charlie Peck, shared a message that has resonated deeply with people following the case.
Her request was simple:
Hold your children a little tighter.
Cherish the ordinary moments.
Never assume that precious memories will always be there.
For Noah’s family, those everyday moments have now become priceless memories of a little boy who brought joy wherever he went.
A COMMUNITY THAT REFUSED TO GIVE UP
The search for Noah showed the extraordinary response of a community determined to help.
Thousands of hours were spent looking for him.
A fundraiser established to support his family also received an overwhelming response, with more than £100,000 raised within days.
For the Woods family, that support cannot erase their loss.
But it has shown them that their little boy touched the hearts of people far beyond his own family.
NOAH WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR WHO HE WAS
The full inquest has been adjourned to a later date.
Police have said Noah’s death is not being treated as suspicious, while further inquiries continue before the final conclusions surrounding his death are established.
But for his family, the most important message is already clear.
They do not want Noah remembered simply as the little boy who disappeared.
They want people to remember his laugh.
His cheeky personality.
His love for his baby brother.
His hugs and kisses.
His growing little voice.
And the happiness he brought into the lives of the people around him.
Noah Woods was only three years old — but to his family, he was the centre of their world. 🤍
