A family’s desperate hope of finding their missing child alive has ended in tragedy after the body of 12-year-old Rami was found off the coast of Catalonia, Spain.

The boy, who had autism, disappeared from his home in Granollers during the early hours of October 4, as severe storms brought torrential rain and flooding to the region near Barcelona.

For days, relatives and emergency teams searched for him, hoping for news that would bring him home safely.

But on Wednesday, October 14, a fisherman spotted a body in the sea near Les Botigues Beach, close to Sitges and Port de Ginesta. Authorities were alerted, and maritime police recovered the body.

On October 15, officials confirmed that the child was Rami. His family was informed of the devastating news.

A NIGHT OF FEAR AS THE STORM SWEPT THROUGH

Rami was last seen at his home in Granollers during the storm. According to reports, he may have become frightened and disorientated by the severe weather and left the house.

His disappearance prompted an extensive search involving firefighters, police officers, volunteers and specialist rescue teams.

Search efforts focused on the Besòs River and surrounding waterways before expanding towards the Catalan coastline. Drones, helicopters, search dogs and underwater teams were among the resources used during the operation.
