WYOMING MOTHER OF TWO, 30, VANISHES AFTER FAILING TO PICK UP HER CHILDREN — FAMILY BEGS FOR ANSWERS
The search for Kandice Gunter has left her family desperate for answers after the mother of two disappeared in Wyoming. Her sister says the sudden loss of contact was completely out of character.
A 30-year-old mother of two has disappeared in Wyoming, leaving her family increasingly worried after she failed to show up to collect her children from an after-school program.
Kandice Gunter had recently moved from Nevada to Casper, hoping to be closer to her children, aged 9 and 6. But what was supposed to be a fresh start has turned into a distressing search after her family lost contact with her.
Her sister, Kayla Gunter, who lives in Dayton, Nevada, said she became alarmed when Kandice did not arrive to pick up the children from the Boys & Girls Club.
The sisters were extremely close and usually spoke on the phone at least three times a day. Their last conversation took place at 10:41 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28.
Kayla said nothing during that call suggested her sister was in trouble. But afterward, Kandice stopped answering her calls.
“That’s why I started freaking out,” Kayla told Cowboy State Daily. “It’s totally out of character for her not to show up to get her kids.”
Her phone was detected in two different areas
According to the Casper Police Department, Kandice was last seen in person on the morning of Thursday, October 29, in Natrona County. She was reported missing later that evening.
Investigators believe she may have been driving a gray 2016 GMC Canyon pickup truck with temporary Wyoming registration.
Her cellphone has also provided investigators with several important location details.
Family members were reportedly told that her phone registered in the Gillette area around noon on Wednesday, approximately two hours after her final conversation with Kayla.
Police later confirmed that the phone’s last known location was along Highway 387, near the Natrona County line, at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 30.
It remains unclear where Kandice went or what happened after she was last seen.
A move that appeared to be going well
Kandice had moved from Nevada to Casper about a month before her disappearance to be closer to her children.
Although she and the children’s father were no longer together, she had reportedly been staying in the same household as him and helping care for the children.
According to Kayla, the move appeared to be going well. Her sister had not indicated that she planned to leave Wyoming or suddenly stop communicating with her family.
Kandice was also relatively new to the area and had not yet established a large circle of friends there.
The sudden silence has therefore been especially difficult for relatives trying to piece together her last known movements.
Family shares emotional plea
In the days before she disappeared, Kandice had shared personal messages on Facebook, including one that read: “Success for me, happens in silence.”
Another post from June mentioned “focusing on a better me. Again,” accompanied by a heart-mending emoji.
However, neither message establishes what may have happened to her.
As the search continued, Kayla shared an emotional plea on Facebook, writing:
“Lord please just give me a sign my sister is alive. Please.”
A longtime friend also posted a heartfelt message, describing the difficulty of searching the vast Wyoming landscape while hoping Kandice would be found safe.
Police release identifying details
Kandice is described as:
