A neighborhood cat became the center of concern after footage surfaced showing food left for stray cats being treated with bleach in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Back in April, a video circulated online that allegedly showed 35-year-old Lauren Carter pouring bleach onto food placed for stray cats near Rose Street.

The footage quickly caught the attention of animal lovers, who worried about the cats that regularly depended on the feeding stations.

One of those cats was Jumper, an older feline who was seen near the food and soon became a particular focus of concern.

Thankfully, Jumper was later found safe at home and appeared to be unharmed.

His owner told Action News: “I appreciate everybody who stepped up because this is an old cat, and he deserves to 𝖽𝗂𝖾 of old age. Not being tortured or poisoned.”

According to reports, Carter is now facing two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. Authorities say she admitted to police that she poured bleach onto the cat food.

Importantly, investigators have said there is currently no evidence that any animals actually consumed the affected food, and no animal injuries have been confirmed.

For Jumper’s family and those who cared for the neighborhood cats, that update brought an enormous sense of relief.

Jumper may simply be an older community cat to some, but to those who love him, he is a cherished life who deserves to spend his remaining years surrounded by kindness and care.

“He deserves to die of old age,” his owner said — a simple wish that now means even more to everyone who feared for his well-being.

The case remains under attention as animal advocates continue calling for accountability and stronger protection for stray and community cats.
