Cause of Death Revealed for Former Wisconsin Football Player Jack Pugh, 24

The cause of death has been revealed for Jack Pugh, a former Wisconsin Badgers tight end who died at the age of 24 on March 30, 2026.

According to a report from the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, Pugh died from acute bronchopneumonia. The condition was associated with cardiomyopathy, while the report also documented hepatosplenomegaly, or enlargement of the liver and spleen.

Pugh’s cause of death had not been publicly disclosed when news of his passing first emerged in March. At the time, authorities confirmed only that the former college football player had died at 24.

The newly released findings provide additional information about the medical circumstances surrounding his death and offer his family, friends, and former teammates greater clarity about what happened.
