Judge Denies Karmelo Anthony’s Request for New Trial in Austin Metcalf Case

A judge has denied Karmelo Anthony’s request for a new trial in the case involving the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf at a track-and-field meet in Frisco, Texas.

On August 22, 2026, retired Judge Michael Chitty rejected Anthony’s motion for a new trial. Anthony had previously been convicted in connection with Metcalf’s death and was sentenced to 35 years in prison in June 2026.
