BABY S WAS JUST A NEWBORN — THEN A SHEFFIELD COURT HEARD THE NUMBER OF WOUNDS FOUND ON HER TINY BODY

She had only just entered the world.

But within days, Baby S was at the center of one of the most disturbing cases currently before a Sheffield court.

Prosecutors allege the newborn suffered 33 wounds in 15 separate stabbings, with injuries recorded to her face and torso, including both the front and back.

And when police eventually found her, she was not simply lying where she had died.

THE DISCOVERY

Baby S was found inside an outhouse at a property in Holywell Heights, Wincobank.

The court heard that her body had been wrapped in a towel, placed inside a blue bag and left on top of a washing machine.

That discovery came after emergency services were called on August 30 following concerns about the safety of an infant.

A forensic post-mortem later confirmed that the cause of death was stab wounds.

FOUR ADULTS FACE MURDER CHARGES

Andrea Skopova, 20, who is identified as Baby S’s mother, is charged with murder alongside Peter Horvath Jr, 19, Peter Horvath Sr, 38, and Nina Horvathova, 37.

All four also face charges of causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice, with prosecutors alleging steps were taken to conceal the infant’s death.

A 15-year-old girl has also been charged with perverting the course of justice. Because she is under 18, she cannot legally be named.

All five defendants have been remanded in custody.

THE CASE IS NOW HEADING TOWARD TRIAL

The four adults and the teenager appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on September 3.

A trial has been scheduled to begin on April 12, 2027, and is expected to last between six and seven weeks.

Investigators have also recovered a potential weapon and are examining CCTV as they continue to piece together what happened.

But for now, the allegations remain just that — allegations.

None of the defendants has been convicted, and the legal process must determine who was responsible for Baby S’s death and what happened inside that Sheffield home.

One fact, however, is already established by the forensic evidence:

A newborn baby suffered 33 wounds in 15 separate stabbings before her life came to an end.

And now the court must unravel exactly how — and why — it happened.
