4-year-old child dies days after crash that also took mother’s life; infant brother survives

A child has died following a crash that also took the life of her mother last month and injured her younger brother.

The Anchorage Police Department reports that the 4-year-old daughter of Kylie Hoogendorn, 23, died on July 30, just two days after the child was hospitalized following the serious collision.

According to police, the crash occurred on July 28 just after midnight when a GMC Sierra hit a light post. Police confirmed that Hoogendorn was driving the truck when it crashed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the department, Hoogendorn’s two children, ages 4 and 1, were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities and family members confirmed Hoogendorn’s daughter died as a result of the crash. Loved ones said the 1-year-old survived but suffered injuries to his legs.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Kylie, who loved her two babies with her whole heart. Her love, kindness, and beautiful spirit touched everyone who knew her,” according to a GoFundMe created for the family.

Anchorage authorities said the crash remains under investigation.
