The discovery of Baby S has left a Sheffield community facing a disturbing question: why was a newborn girl found hidden inside an outhouse rather than in the home where she was born?

Baby S was born at 37 weeks in Sheffield on August 30, 2026.

Hours later, concerns about the newborn’s safety prompted hospital staff to contact police.

Officers were eventually led to a property in Holywell Heights, Wincobank, where prosecutors allege the baby was found inside an outhouse.

She was reportedly discovered on top of a washing machine, wrapped in a towel and placed inside a blue bag.

The location has since become one of the most unsettling details surrounding the case.

THE FORENSIC FINDINGS

A postmortem examination found that Baby S had suffered 33 wounds from 15 separate stabbings, according to prosecutors.

The injuries were reportedly found across her face and torso, including wounds to both the front and back of her body.

Prosecutors have told the court that the newborn was alive when the injuries were inflicted.

The allegations are among the most serious details presented during preliminary court proceedings.

However, none of the defendants has been convicted, and each is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

FOUR ADULTS FACE MURDER CHARGES

They are Andrea Skopova, 20; Peter Horvath Jr., 19; Peter Horvath Sr., 38; and Nina Horvathova, 37.

Skopova is the baby’s mother.

Horvath Jr. is described as Skopova’s boyfriend and is the son of Horvath Sr. and Horvathova.

The court has heard that Horvath Jr. is not believed to be Baby S’s biological father, and the identity of the child’s father has not been established.

The defendants face charges including murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and allegations relating to attempts to conceal what happened.

A FIFTH PERSON IS ALSO BEFORE THE COURTS

A 15-year-old girl has also been charged in connection with the case.

Because she is a minor, she cannot be publicly identified.

She faces a separate allegation relating to the alleged concealment of the baby’s death rather than the murder charge faced by the four adults.

Two other women who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder remain on bail, according to reports.
