While riding her scooter near Laurel Yard Office Road and East Maryland, Raye was struck by a truck in a devastating crash that left her with multiple serious injuries.
The teenager suffered severe trauma, including bleeding in three areas of her brain, bruised lungs, a broken collarbone and numerous lacerations. Her injuries left her facing a long and difficult road to recovery.

Raye was already well known throughout her community. She had grown up living with cystic hygroma, a rare lymphatic malformation in which fluid-filled sacs develop, most commonly around the head or neck.
Despite the challenges she had faced throughout her life, Raye had become a familiar and valued presence in the community. Now, after the sudden crash, those who know her are rallying around the 17-year-old and hoping for her recovery.
