💔 NOAH COULDN’T CALL OUT FOR HELP — AND HE COULDN’T HEAR HIS NAME BEING CALLED.

Three-year-old Noah Woods was non-verbal and mildly hearing-impaired, making the desperate search for him even more difficult.

He was also undergoing an autism assessment and did not reliably respond when someone called his name.

When Noah disappeared, rescuers faced a heartbreaking challenge.

They couldn’t simply call his name and expect him to answer.

And Noah couldn’t easily tell anyone where he was or what had happened.

Investigators and volunteers had to search the places a small child might instinctively run toward.

Noah was believed to have headed toward a new housing development and a nearby fishing pond.

Every minute mattered.

Police, firefighters, specialist teams and members of the public searched through the area, hoping that somewhere ahead of them, Noah was still waiting to be found.

For his family, the silence must have been unbearable.

They were searching for a little boy who might not hear them calling.

A little boy who might not be able to call back.

And a little boy who could not simply explain where he had gone.
