FATHER AND DAUGHTER, 49 AND 24, KILLED IN TRAGIC WORKPLACE INCIDENT IN IRELAND

A father and his 24-year-old daughter have died in a devastating workplace incident at a concrete manufacturing plant in County Offaly, Ireland.

Mihai Chinez, 49, and his daughter, Denisa Mihaela Chinez, 24, were both from Banagher and originally from Romania.

The pair died at Banagher Precast Concrete on Monday morning, September 28, after emergency services were called to the facility at around 11:40 a.m.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, and authorities have not released a full account of exactly what happened.

The tragedy has left the Banagher community in deep shock.

Mihai and Denisa were part of a family that had built a life in the local area after moving from Romania.

Denisa’s mother, Angela, also works at the same company.

The family is now mourning alongside Denisa’s sister, Lavinia Alexandra, and her fiancé, Liviu Blaj.

Banagher Precast Concrete described the incident as an “unprecedented” tragedy for the company and said its immediate priority was supporting the affected families and employees.

The company also said employee safety has always been a core value and that a full investigation into the circumstances was underway.

JOINT FUNERAL ANNOUNCED

Funeral arrangements for the father and daughter have now been announced.

Mihai and Denisa will repose at Banagher Community Centre on Wednesday, September 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A joint Funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, at 11 a.m. at St Rynagh’s Church.

Denisa will then be laid to rest at St Rynagh’s Cemetery, while her father will be cremated at a later date.

Their death notice described both as being “sadly missed and deeply regretted” by their family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues.

Emergency services attended the plant shortly before midday on Monday.

A post-mortem examination was arranged as part of the investigation, while the Health and Safety Authority is also examining the circumstances surrounding the workplace tragedy.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed the exact cause of the incident.

For a family that went to work together and returned home no more, the loss has left a community grieving two lives taken in the same devastating event.
