CANNON HALL FARM FAMILY FACES HEARTBREAKING NEWS AS FARMER DAVE BATTLES STAGE 4 CANCER 💔

For years, Farmer Dave Nicholson has welcomed viewers into the world of Cannon Hall Farm alongside his brother Rob, becoming a familiar face to thousands of people who have followed the family’s life on their Yorkshire farm.

But away from the cameras, Dave, his wife Ruth and their two sons are now facing an incredibly difficult chapter.

A DEVASTATING DIAGNOSIS

The family recently shared that Dave has been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer.

According to a fundraising appeal created to support the family, Dave is undergoing intensive treatment, including daily chemotherapy and radiotherapy, as the family faces an uncertain future.

The fundraiser was created to help Ruth and Dave through the months ahead and to give them more freedom to focus on what matters most — being together as a family and making precious memories.

Cannon Hall Farm has become one of Yorkshire’s best-known farming destinations, while Rob and Dave have become familiar faces through programmes including Springtime on the Farm and Winter on the Farm.

Their personalities, farming stories and everyday life with the animals have also attracted a large online following.

Even during this difficult period, Dave has continued to appear in Cannon Hall Farm content. Recent podcast episodes have shown the brothers still sharing their usual stories, humour and experiences from life on the farm.

AN OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT

The fundraising campaign has brought together people who know the family personally as well as viewers who have simply followed their journey through Cannon Hall Farm.

The appeal says the money will allow the family to use the support in whatever way helps them most during this difficult time.

As of the latest available figures, the campaign had raised £19,843 from more than 1,000 donations, with a target of £24,000.

Ruth has also publicly thanked supporters for their messages and donations following the news of Dave’s diagnosis.

The cancer diagnosis comes during an already emotional year at Cannon Hall Farm.

The farm has also faced heartbreaking losses involving its Shire horses, including Ruby and foal Iris. In September, the farm held an online event with its equine vet Marco to reflect on the difficult months and the efforts made to care for the animals.

There have nevertheless been moments of hope.

In July, the farm announced that Sapphire, one of its mares, was pregnant, bringing some welcome good news after a difficult period.

“STANDING BEHIND” THE FAMILY

The fundraising appeal describes Ruth as being supported by family, friends, colleagues and the wider Cannon Hall Farm team.

But the support has now extended far beyond the people who work at the farm.

For many followers, Dave and Ruth have been familiar faces for years — people they have watched through farming programmes, social media posts and life at Cannon Hall.

Now, those same viewers are sending messages of encouragement back to the family.

For Ruth, Dave and their two boys, the road ahead remains uncertain.

But one thing is clear: they are surrounded by a community that wants them to know they are not facing this alone. ❤️
