GEORGIA PARENTS CHARGED AFTER THEIR 2-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER’S DEATH WAS RULED A HOMICIDE
A Georgia family is facing a heartbreaking legal case months after their 2-year-old daughter, Nevaeh Wynn, died unexpectedly at home.
Now, her parents have been arrested and charged with murder after investigators determined that the toddler’s death was a homicide.
A CALL FOR HELP IN MAY
The case began on May 3, 2026, when police in Conyers, Georgia, responded to a report of an unresponsive child at a residence.
Nevaeh was taken to Piedmont Rockdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
At the time, the circumstances surrounding the little girl’s death were still being investigated.
Police continued examining the family home and gathering evidence in the months that followed.
MONTHS-LONG INVESTIGATION
According to the Conyers Police Department, investigators eventually obtained a search warrant for the residence.
During the search, authorities reported finding used nitrous oxide canisters and an empty container of kratom capsules.
The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted with the investigation and later classified Nevaeh’s cause of death as a homicide.
Police said the investigation remains active.
BOTH PARENTS NOW FACE MURDER CHARGES
On September 24, nearly five months after Nevaeh’s death, police arrested her parents.
Rafael Pedron Wynn, 30, and Kerri Dysart, 28, were each charged with second-degree murder in connection with their daughter’s death.
Both are being held at the Rockdale County Jail without bond, according to jail records reported by PEOPLE and local news outlets.
Authorities have not publicly released all details of the evidence that led to the charges.
QUESTIONS STILL REMAIN
The case has left investigators working to establish exactly what happened inside the Conyers home on the day Nevaeh died.
Police have not announced a final explanation of the circumstances surrounding the toddler’s death beyond the medical examiner’s homicide classification.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to ask anyone with information to contact the Conyers Police Department.
For Nevaeh’s family and those who knew her, the case represents the loss of a 2-year-old child whose life ended far too soon.
As the legal process moves forward, many questions surrounding her final hours remain unanswered.
Rafael Pedron Wynn and Kerri Dysart have been charged, but the charges are allegations and they remain entitled to due process.
