SIR TOM JONES’ EMOTIONAL EXIT FROM THE VOICE UK AS THE SHOW PREPARES FOR A MAJOR 2027 SHAKE-UP

For more than a decade, Sir Tom Jones has been one of the most familiar faces in The Voice UK.

But when the singing competition returns for its 15th series in 2027, viewers are set to see a very different show — and the legendary Welsh singer will no longer be a full-time coach.

The news has sparked a huge reaction among fans, with more than 63,000 people reportedly signing a petition calling for Tom to return to his famous red chair.

Tom Jones, now 86, made clear that leaving the programme was not his choice.

The singer said he loved working on The Voice UK and appreciated the support he had received from viewers.

According to Tom, ITV had previously offered him a significantly reduced role for the new series — one that would have allowed him to make appearances without remaining involved as a full-time coach.

He said he was unhappy with that arrangement and described the situation as being effectively fired from the programme.

Tom also said the decision was connected to financial difficulties involving insurance, according to his account.

ITV, meanwhile, thanked the singer for his contribution to the programme and said discussions were continuing with Tom and his team about possible involvement in the next series.

Tom was part of the original coaching line-up when The Voice UK launched in 2012.

Over the years, audiences watched him work alongside some of the biggest names in music, including Jessie J, Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora and Olly Murs.

Although he took a break in 2016, he later returned and became one of the show’s longest-serving coaches.

For many viewers, his deep voice, sharp humour and emotional reactions became part of the identity of the programme itself.

THE 2027 VERSION WILL LOOK VERY DIFFERENT

Tom isn’t the only major departure.

ITV has announced a significant overhaul of the coaching and presenting line-up for series 15.

Cheryl and rapper Aitch are expected to join the coaching panel alongside Will.i.am and Kelly Rowland, while long-time presenter Emma Willis is leaving the programme.

Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon are set to take over presenting duties.

The changes mean that almost every familiar part of the show could look different when the next series arrives.

A NEW “LOCKDOWN” BUTTON COULD CHANGE THE GAME

The coaching changes are not the only surprise.

Reports say producers are also introducing a new feature known as the “Lockdown” button.

The reported twist would come into play when all four coaches turn for a contestant.

Instead of allowing the singer to listen to every coach’s pitch and then choose a team, one coach could reportedly use the button to immediately secure the contestant for their team.

The move would replace the familiar Rewind mechanism and could completely change the tension surrounding four-chair turns.

FANS ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT TOM’S FUTURE

Tom’s departure has clearly struck a chord with some viewers.

A petition calling for him to return reportedly attracted more than 63,000 signatures, while fellow coach Will.i.am has also shared the campaign online.

For now, ITV has not completely closed the door on Tom making an appearance.

The broadcaster has said it remains in discussions with him and his team, although he will not return as a full-time coach for series 15.

That leaves one big question hanging over the next season:

Could Sir Tom Jones still make a surprise appearance on The Voice UK?

For a show preparing for one of its biggest transformations yet, fans may have to wait until 2027 to find out.
