“WE’RE VERY, VERY WORRIED” — DAUGHTER MAKES DESPERATE PLEA AFTER MUM VANISHES IN PARIS
A daughter is desperately searching for answers after her 48-year-old mother disappeared in Paris and has not been seen or heard from for almost two weeks.
Deirdre Lynch, from Dublin, Ireland, was last seen outside the Irish Embassy in Paris on September 20.
Since then, her family says they have had no confirmed contact with her.
Her daughter, 24-year-old Mazzy Hollerich, has now made an emotional public appeal, pleading with anyone who may have seen her mother to come forward.
“We’re very, very worried,” Mazzy said, describing the situation as one of the most frightening her family has ever faced.
SHE HAD TRAVELLED TO PARIS WITH HER FAMILY
Deirdre travelled to Paris to join Mazzy and other family members on a holiday.
She arrived on August 26, after Mazzy had travelled to France the previous day.
But according to her daughter, the family soon became concerned because Deirdre became separated from them several times and was difficult to locate.
Mazzy said her mother did not have a phone at the time, making it particularly difficult for the family to stay in contact with her.
At one point, Deirdre reportedly left the place where the family was staying and could not immediately be found.
THE LAST CONTACT
Mazzy said the last time she personally had contact with her mother was on September 16.
The family later received an email indicating that Deirdre was at an internet café.
But, according to Mazzy, her mother did not reveal where she was.
Four days later, Deirdre was reportedly seen outside the Irish Embassy in Paris.
That September 20 sighting remains the last confirmed sighting publicly reported by the family.
“WE DON’T KNOW WHERE SHE IS”
The uncertainty has left Deirdre’s family facing a painful wait.
Mazzy said her mother had only around €30 with her and that the family does not know where she has been staying or how she has been managing.
Paris is a huge city, and without reliable communication, every passing day has made the search more difficult.
“She’s a very, very vulnerable person,” Mazzy said.
The family is now appealing not only to people in Paris but also to Irish people, tourists, expatriates and anyone who may have crossed paths with Deirdre.
WHAT DOES DEIRDRE LOOK LIKE?
Deirdre is described as approximately 4ft 11in (150cm) tall.
At the time of her last reported sighting, she was wearing black leggings and a black jumper.
Her daughter has shared photographs of Deirdre online in the hope that someone might recognise her.
The family has urged anyone with information, even something that may seem insignificant, to report it rather than assuming someone else has already come forward.
A DAUGHTER TRYING TO STAY HOPEFUL
For Mazzy, the hardest part has been not knowing what has happened.
She said she is trying to remain hopeful while avoiding thinking about the worst possibilities.
“I try not to think of the awful scenarios,” she said, explaining that doing so would be overwhelming.
Instead, she is focusing on finding her mother and bringing her safely home.
The family has asked anyone who may have information to contact Finglas Garda Station, the Irish Embassy in Paris or French police.
THE SEARCH CONTINUES
There has been no confirmed report that Deirdre has been located as of the latest available updates.
Her family continues to share her photographs and details online, hoping someone in Paris may recognise her.
For Mazzy, the message is simple:
If you have seen Deirdre, if you remember meeting her, or if you know anything that could help investigators, please speak up.
Every piece of information could matter.
Deirdre is a mother, a daughter and a loved member of her family.
And for almost two weeks, the people who love her have been left with the same heartbreaking question:
Where is Deirdre Lynch?
