Hannah was found unresponsive at her home in Fern Hill, Dersingham, in the early hours of Sunday, October 4, 2026. Emergency services attended the property shortly after 2:20 a.m., and police subsequently launched a murder investigation.
Her family described her as “kind, generous and loving,” remembering her as a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. They also expressed pride in the care she provided to her patients, many of whom knew her by her professional name, Dr Terry.
A DOCTOR REMEMBERED FOR HER COMPASSION
Dr Cain worked as a general practitioner at Grimston Medical Centre in Norfolk. According to her professional biography, she had been a qualified doctor for more than 15 years and had worked as a GP for eight years.
Alongside her medical work, she also ran a cosmetic treatment business. Colleagues and healthcare professionals paid tribute to her intelligence, kindness and the positive presence she brought to those around her.

According to information presented in court, the ambulance service contacted police at approximately 2:25 a.m. on October 4 after Dr Cain was found unconscious and not breathing in an upstairs bedroom.
A post-mortem examination identified blunt-force injuries to her head, while the court was also told of neck injuries consistent with compression. The full circumstances surrounding her death remain the subject of the investigation.
Children were present at the property at the time, prosecutors told the court. Reports said the household had been hosting a sleepover involving the couple’s children and their friends.
Authorities have not publicly established a motive, and the details of what happened inside the home remain matters for the ongoing legal process.
HUSBAND CHARGED AS INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
Dr Cain’s husband, 45-year-old Mark Cain, was arrested following the discovery and subsequently charged with her murder.
He appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on October 7 and was remanded in custody. He later appeared at King’s Lynn Crown Court, where he was again remanded pending a plea hearing scheduled for December 3, 2026.
He has not entered a plea, and the charge remains an allegation that must be determined through the courts. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The investigation is continuing, with authorities working to establish the circumstances leading to Dr Cain’s death.
