“I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE MY HAPPY FAMILY” — MOTHER CHARGED AFTER HUSBAND AND 3-YEAR-OLD SON FOUND DEAD AT RESORT
A family getaway in Pennsylvania ended in tragedy after a father and his young son were found dead in their hotel room. The boy’s mother is now facing two criminal homicide charges as investigators work to establish what happened.
A devastating incident at a popular family resort in Pennsylvania has left relatives mourning the deaths of a father and his three-year-old son.
Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide following the deaths of her husband, Charles Harrison, and their young son at Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains on October 12, 2026, according to court documents and police.
Authorities were called to the resort shortly after 3 p.m. after Harrison reportedly contacted emergency services and said she needed help. Responding officers discovered Charles and the child dead inside the family’s guest room.
A DISTRESSING CALL TO EMERGENCY SERVICES
According to a probable-cause affidavit cited by PEOPLE, Harrison allegedly told the dispatcher that her husband and son were already gone. Officers arriving at the scene found that she had also sustained injuries and arranged for her to receive medical treatment.
The criminal complaint describes statements she allegedly made while being transported to hospital, expressing distress about how her family’s life had ended.
“I was supposed to have my happy family,” she reportedly told first responders, according to the affidavit.
The statements have drawn attention as investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Authorities have not publicly established a motive.
WHAT INVESTIGATORS FOUND
Police reported finding Charles and the couple’s three-year-old son inside the hotel room with fatal stab wounds. Investigators also recovered knives and other items as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Records indicate the family had been staying at the resort since September and had extended their reservation, with checkout planned for October 13.
Investigators are examining surveillance footage and other evidence to reconstruct the events leading up to the emergency call.
Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso described the incident as a “violent domestic tragedy” and said authorities did not believe there was an ongoing threat to the wider public.
A FAMILY’S UNIMAGINABLE LOSS
The deaths have left the victims’ relatives facing the painful task of arranging two funerals while trying to understand what happened.
A fundraiser established by loved ones described Charles as a devoted husband and father whose life revolved around his wife and child. The campaign was launched to help cover funeral expenses and support the family through the immediate aftermath.
Great Wolf Lodge said it was deeply saddened by the incident and was cooperating with law enforcement.
THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
Harrison remains accused of the two deaths and is being held without bail, according to PEOPLE. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 21, 2026. As of the latest reports, it was not clear whether she had entered a plea.
The allegations have not yet been tested at trial, and the charges are not a final determination of guilt.
For the families and loved ones affected, the loss of a father and his young son has brought profound grief. Investigators continue working to establish the full circumstances of the tragedy.
