New Witness Claims Bungee Jump Workers Removed Victim’s GoPro Camera After Fatal Fall in Brazil

A new eyewitness account has emerged in the investigation into the death of 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, claiming that one of the bungee jump workers removed her action camera from her body after she fell to her death.

The incident occurred on June 13, 2026, at the disused Ponte do Esqueleto (Skeleton Bridge) in Limeira, São Paulo. Maria Eduarda was thrown from the bridge without being attached to a safety rope and fell approximately 40 meters (130 feet). She died at the scene.

New Witness Testimony

Pedagogical coordinator Rafael Goulard, who was waiting in line to jump at the time, told Jornal da EPTV that he witnessed one of the workers approach Maria Eduarda after she had already fallen to the ground.

“The first scene I remember was seeing one of the employees removing the strap from the neck and body of the person already on the ground — the GoPro camera,” Goulard said.

According to him, the workers showed little to no visible reaction after the accident and appeared to be in a “catatonic state.” He also claimed he later saw workers moving equipment into a car and changing their clothes. Goulard said he informed a police officer about this, and the officer ordered the workers not to leave the scene.

The action camera that Maria Eduarda was wearing to record her jump has not been recovered. Workers told police they did not know where the device was, and searches in the surrounding area have so far been unsuccessful.

Investigation Developments

Three men — identified as Luis Felipe Feliciano Egoroff (42), Vitor De Freitas Gonçalves (27), and Maicon Fernandes Cintra (32) — have been charged with homicide with eventual intent (homicídio qualificado) and remain in preventive detention.

Authorities have stated that the group operating the jumps had no official authorization to conduct the activity at the site. Investigators believe the rope was never properly attached to Maria Eduarda before she was thrown from the bridge.

The new witness account has intensified scrutiny on the behavior of the workers after the fall, particularly the removal of the GoPro and the attempt to change clothes and move equipment. Police are investigating whether these actions were attempts to conceal evidence or simply the result of shock and disorientation.

A Life Remembered

Maria Eduarda, a recent graduate in Physical Education and Sports Management, was described by friends and colleagues as a vibrant, adventurous young woman passionate about sports and nature. She worked as an instructor at Panobianco Academia, where she was remembered for her dedication and positive energy.

Her final Instagram post, shared just moments before the jump, showed her wristbands and the bridge with the caption: “Who was the crazy person who let me come jump off a bridge?”

The post has since taken on a deeply poignant meaning for those who knew her.

What Happens Next

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities continue to examine video footage, witness statements, and physical evidence from the scene. The missing GoPro camera is considered a key piece of potential evidence, as it may have recorded the moments leading up to and during the fall.

For Maria Eduarda’s family and loved ones, the tragedy has been compounded by the disturbing details emerging from both the incident itself and the actions that followed. What began as a thrill-seeking adventure has now become the subject of a complex criminal investigation centered on negligence, safety failures, and possible attempts to cover up evidence.

As more witness accounts come forward, the full picture of what happened on that bridge — and in the critical moments afterward — continues to unfold.
