ANGELICA BROPHY STILL MISSING: NEW DETAILS EMERGE AS SEARCH CONTINUES

The disappearance of 44-year-old Oceanside emergency-room nurse and mother Angelica Brophy remains unresolved more than six weeks after she was last seen in Southern California.

Angelica was reported missing on July 6, 2026. Investigators determined that she was last known to be at Harrah’s Resort in Valley Center around 3:30 p.m. that day. Roughly 50 minutes later, she entered Palomar Mountain State Park. Her vehicle was discovered there three days later, but Angelica was nowhere to be found.

THE SEARCH HAS SPANNED DIFFICULT TERRAIN

Authorities and search teams have carried out extensive operations around Palomar Mountain, including ground searches and searches of Doane Pond.

Despite those efforts, Angelica has not been located.

Her family and volunteers have continued organizing additional searches of areas that may not have received extensive coverage.

HUMAN REMAINS FOUND — BUT NOT BELIEVED TO BE ANGELICA

The investigation took another unexpected turn on August 12, when a volunteer search-and-rescue team discovered human remains in an embankment near South Grade Road in Pauma Valley.

However, authorities subsequently said the remains are not believed to belong to Angelica.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit is investigating the separate discovery, while the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the identity, cause and manner of death.

Importantly, authorities have not announced a connection between those remains and Angelica’s disappearance.

THE CASE REMAINS OPEN

Angelica’s disappearance has now raised questions about what happened after she entered the mountain area and why her vehicle was left behind.

Her family continues to ask anyone who may have been around Palomar Mountain, Valley Center or nearby roads on July 6 to review photographs, videos, dashcam footage and security-camera recordings for anything that could help investigators.

Authorities continue to investigate, while Angelica’s family and volunteers refuse to stop searching.
