PRESLEY GERBER, SON OF CINDY CRAWFORD AND RANDE GERBER, DIES AT 27 AS DEATH INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27.

Presley died on September 20, 2026, at a rehabilitation facility in the Los Angeles area, according to records from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

His death has prompted an ongoing investigation, with authorities saying that the cause and manner of death have not yet been officially determined.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said a deputy medical examiner conducted an examination on September 21, but the cause and manner of death were deferred while additional testing and studies are carried out.

The department said there is currently limited information available and that a final determination could take several months. Presley was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m. on September 20 by responding paramedics. The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating the death.

FAMILY CONFIRMS HIS DEATH

Presley’s family confirmed his death and asked for privacy.

A representative for Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber and Presley’s sister, model and actress Kaia Gerber, said the family was facing an extremely difficult and painful time.

“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” the representative said.

Presley’s death came as a shock to people who had followed the family for decades.

He was the only son of Crawford and Gerber and the older brother of Kaia.

The family had been photographed together as recently as May 2026, when Presley appeared alongside his parents and sister in Los Angeles.

POLICE INVESTIGATE POSSIBLE OVERDOSE

While an official cause of death has not been released, law enforcement sources have told news organizations that the death is being investigated as a possible overdose.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Santa Monica police responded to the rehabilitation property after receiving calls reporting a cardiac arrest and a possible overdose.

Police have said there was no indication of foul play at this stage.

However, investigators are waiting for the medical examiner’s toxicology and other testing to determine what substance, if any, may have contributed to Presley’s death.

The distinction is important: authorities have not publicly announced a final medical cause of death.

The Medical Examiner’s official statement says the cause and manner remain deferred while additional studies are conducted.

HE HAD BEEN OPEN ABOUT HIS STRUGGLES

Presley’s death comes after years in which he had spoken publicly about mental health, addiction and recovery.

In a 2023 appearance on the Studio 22 podcast, Presley discussed his own experiences with depression and other mental-health difficulties.

He said mental health had become a major part of his life and expressed a desire to use his experiences to help other people who might be struggling.

“I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do,” Presley said during the podcast, according to PEOPLE.

He later began sharing a series of “Mental Health Mondays” videos on social media, where he discussed recovery, healthy habits and his experiences.

In one 2024 video, he talked about finding common ground with other people in recovery.

His posts offered a glimpse into a personal struggle that he increasingly chose to discuss publicly rather than keep private.

HIS FINAL YEARS WERE MARKED BY RECOVERY EFFORTS

Presley had continued seeking treatment in the years before his death.

One of his final social-media updates showed him reflecting on a previous treatment experience involving ibogaine, a psychoactive substance that has been explored in addiction treatment but also carries significant medical risks.

In the post, Presley described being frightened before treatment and wrote about confronting things he had been running from.

The post gave followers a rare look at how seriously he was approaching his recovery.

He was reportedly at a rehabilitation facility when he died on September 20.

KAIA GERBER SPOKE ABOUT HER BROTHER JUST WEEKS BEFORE HIS DEATH

Presley’s struggles had also been discussed by his younger sister.

In an interview published in the September 2026 issue of Vogue, Kaia Gerber spoke about what the magazine described as her brother’s decade-long struggle with drug addiction.

She described the effect his difficulties had on their family and said that Presley’s openness about his experiences had also changed the way the family approached the subject.

Kaia said there was only so much a family could hide from the world and described her brother as someone who had chosen to be open about what he was experiencing.

The interview was published only weeks before Presley’s death.

Presley was born in California in 1999 and entered the fashion world as a teenager.

He was signed by IMG Models at 15 and began receiving attention in the fashion industry alongside his younger sister Kaia.

He made his runway debut with Moschino and later appeared in shows and campaigns connected with major fashion brands including Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein.

In 2018, he told PEOPLE that working alongside his sister made modeling feel less lonely.

He also appeared in a Calvin Klein campaign with Kaia, further establishing the siblings as recognizable young figures in the fashion world.

A 2019 DUI ARREST

Presley’s struggles with substance use had previously entered the public record.

In 2019, he was arrested on a DUI charge.

He later received a sentence that included three years of probation, completion of a DUI program and two days of community service.

In the years that followed, however, Presley increasingly used his public platform to talk about recovery rather than simply his modeling career.

His social-media posts often focused on physical activity, mental health, treatment and attempts to build healthier routines.
