52 DOGS RESCUED FROM 𝙷𝙾𝚁𝚁𝙾𝚁 HOME WITH NO WATER OR POWER AS ONE PUPPY COULD NOT BE SAVED AND DOZENS FOUND STARVING AND TERRIFIED

Police are investigating after 52 dogs were rescued from a severe neglect situation at a New Jersey home.

The dogs were removed from a property on the 800 block of East State Street around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

James Marshall, 57, was charged with animal cruelty.

FOX 29’s Steve Keeley reports the home had no running water or electricity. A Public Service Enterprise Group worker alerted authorities after noticing the living conditions while at the property.

One dog, a Yorkie, had to be put down due to the seriousness of its condition. One dog remains in critical condition, three are receiving medical care, and several others are unwell. Sixteen of the dogs are being cared for at Trenton Animals Rock, a local rescue. The rest have been transported to a mix of other nearby shelters.

“All are malnourished, dehydrated and extremely frightened,” the nonprofit said in a Facebook post. “The outside environment is unfamiliar to them. They have no experience being outside,” said Trenton Animals Rock founder Danielle Gletow.

The rescue said it is in urgent need of donations and foster homes.

Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora visited the dogs at the shelter Wednesday, urging residents to consider adoption or fostering.

The shelter also put out a call for supplies like foldable crates, blankets, towels, food and grain-free dog treats.
